Meeting at 4 on Friday-5K Run

Remember, we'll be having a meeting at SDSA on Friday after Juggling at 4PM for trip information if you're going. Adults: I need funds if you haven't paid yet please.

It looks to be cold on Saturday for the run, so we'll only have an indoor band. In otherwards, you can walk or run and still play in Magnolia's after the race. Be there at 10:45 to set up and register if you have not already. Polos and Khakis or race shirt.

5K Run/ Trinidad update

SDSA students have all of the 5K run information, but Plenty Problems may not. We're still looking for sponsors for The second annual 5K Stroll to Carnival on February 3rd. I have sponsor sheets or I can just be given the information.
The run(or walk) starts at Noon, and like last year, it would be good to have a band along the run, and pans set up for a small band inside Magnolia's Restaurant ready for after the race. You can run and play after the race, but I'll need nonrunners to play during the run. Set up for both bands at 10:30AM.

TRINIDAD UPDATE- Look for changes in the itinerary from the last post including the Jr. Panorama in Port of Spain our second night(Sunday), where we will get to see Golden Hands compete.
Also Golden Hands has joined up with The Hatters who are hopeful to make the large band Panorama Finals.
Golden hands will no longer be playing the Monday Jouvert ("juvay") with Mt. Moriah( Dain still is arranging for them though). They are looking for their own float or joining up with another band.
On Our last Monday night there is a Carnival celebration within walking distance.

Details/recommendations: You must have a passport.
The house has housekeeping ( washer and dryer too),linens and security.
Clothing: temperatures will between 80-90 degrees so bring casual summer clothing, but one decent outfit to wear in case we go to a government facility or restaurant. Polos and Khakis are fine.Bring the band polo, race shirt, and bathing suit/ sun protection/towel and your sticks. You will be able to buy clothes there as well.
Money: Adults can bring the money estimated for group meals, $200.00, or give it to me prior to the trip. Adults please forward to me house money, $500,so I can money gram it to Trinidad before we go.
Everyone should bring extra money for snacks, added preferences at meals, and anything you may want to buy- clothes, hats, music, drums, jewelry. Fees and transportation should be covered by the band less tips.A trip to Tobago may require a little more for adults. There are plenty of ATM's. I can handle money for students by depositing it in the Plenty Problems account and withdrawing it in Trinidad.Travelers checks are okay but not the most convenient. Have a secure place on you to put money besides a wallet in your pocket-money belt or pouch around your neck.Prices of goods in Trinidad are similar to here, maybe a little cheaper, especially goods made in the U.K. or India. Exchange rate: one U.S. dollar equals six T.T. dollars.
Basic needs are in walking distance. We mostly travel by car(members of the band) or Maxi Taxis arranged by Franka.

It is typical that we stay up late into the night and get up late morning. The mornings are usually your free time to sleep, play, exercise or whatever you choose.Time to practice with Golden hands will be evenings.

Sunday is a small deal

Here's what I have in the van: 1 bass, the 3 cello, 1 guitar and 3 tenors. That's all I have because that's all that might fit somehow in , around, or outside the church. Also it's only three or four songs, and we are done. All are welcome to come though as their will be several performers to see.
MOST IMPORTANT-By Monday,I need at least 1 more active band member ( over 1 year experience) to go to Trinidad or an adult. If not the band automatically loses the $1,200 deposit to the airline and $500 for the room at the house.

Sunday Performance

We will be playing at Prince George's Chapel on rt. 26 in Dagsboro( where we played this summer for their ice cream festival). I'll leave my house at 12:30 to set up at 1:00PM and play at 1:30 for a short set; a small band is preferable. Leave a comment or call if you want to come. Polos and khakis
